Unit 1

Introduction & Indian Livestock Industry: Role of livestock in Indian economy and agriculture. Livestock development programmes of Govt. of India. Important breeds of cattle, buffalo, sheep, goat, and swine.

Unit 2

Livestock Housing and Management: Principles of eco-friendly housing systems for different livestock categories. Sanitation, waste disposal, and management of pregnant, lactating, and young farm stock.

Unit 3

Animal Nutrition & Principles of Feeding: Classification of feeds and fodders. Digestion and utilization of nutrients in ruminants. Formulation of balanced rations, green fodder production, and conservation (Silage & Hay making).

Unit 4

Poultry Production & Hatchery Management: Overview of Indian poultry sector. Important breeds of economic value (Layers & Broilers). Brooding management, housing patterns, systems of poultry farming, and hatchery bio-security.

Unit 5

Herd Health & Disease Control: Signs of health and disease. Prevention and control strategies for major infectious and contagious diseases of livestock and poultry (FMD, HS, BQ, Ranikhet, Coccidiosis). Vaccination schedules.
